What We Do
Welcome Every Baby is a free service available to all newborns and their families in Santa Barbara County. Welcome Every Baby focuses on the very important relationship between parents and their babies. We are here to help all babies get off to the best possible start in life. All families receive:
- Nurse Home Visit (in partnership with Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and Marian Home Care) soon after your baby is born. The nurse helps with breastfeeding, caring for your newborn and other questions or concerns that you may have
- The Welcome Every Baby Line, a call-line staffed by a child development specialist to answer questions that you may have about caring for your baby and your child’s development in the first 3 years
- Breastfeeding support
- Information on caring for your newborn
- Post-partum depression education and support
- Information on how your baby grows and learns
- Help with questions and concerns
- Information about resources in your community
Welcome Every Baby is the only county-wide, newborn home visiting program in California available to all newborns. It is funded by First 5 Santa Barbara County and a growing number of private foundations and is operated by the Santa Barbara County Education Office.
Welcome Every Baby is a community effort that relies on close partnerships with all of the county’s local hospitals, physicians, midwives and community agencies that serve families for our success.
