An estimated 500 babies are born in Santa Barbara County every month. We know that the first hours and months of a baby’s life are very special and critically important. How babies are cared for and nurtured during this time helps shape the rest of their lives. Welcome Every Baby is designed to help make the first year with a new baby healthier and easier.
Santa Barbara County’s communities are making babies a priority! Santa Barbara County is the only county in California with a program in place that can reach all new babies and their families. The program is available to all families—from all income levels, all backgrounds, that speak any language.
The Welcome Every Baby program relies on our partnerships with hospitals, physicians, nurses, midwives and local community organizations to provide services to families. We rely on contributions and donations from private individuals, foundations and public organizations to operate the program.

Your support helps us to help babies and their families through:
- Parenting education and support
- Parent/infant relationship support
- Maternal postpartum depression education and support
- Breastfeeding and infant nutrition education
- Infant health and developmental screening
- Periodic well-baby visits
- Family engagement in pre-literacy activities with infant
- Health and safety education in the home environment, including exposure to tobacco smoke
- Information about community resources and referrals
- Transportation to community resources
